Book Blurbs: Selling the Story vs. Telling the Story

Y’all know I’m a bit crazy. Like from-a-whole-different-universe type crazy. I mean, I’d have to be since I enjoy writing blurbs, eh? Because, yeah…

I freakin’ looove it. No idea why. My personal preference is short and snappy, like a swift punch to the gut. Now don’t get me wrong. I ain’t saying I’m good at writing em, just saying it gives me warm fuzzies to do it. Crazy, remember? Anyhoo, I know blurbs are the 2nd most dreaded step of the publishing process for most indies, the 1st being marketing haha! And yet we all know it’s insanely important since the cover’s like the cover letter (that was a bit redundant…) and the blurb is like the resume. Sooo I thought I’d share this article from none other than the Knockin’ Books blog.

Book Blurbs: Selling the Story vs. Telling the Story

Short and sweet, right? Riiight? For reals, though, I hope that helps some!!

Hugs,

Mistress Ann

  1. Great article, Mistress Ann!! I’m not as excited about writing blurbs as you are but I don’t hate doing it. I noticed I did one of the things on their list of don’ts for one of my book blurbs, so I might think about changing that!
