Okay, so for me this is something that I obsess over in a major way during my planning phase!
I don’t know if anyone else ever worries about this, or if it makes a difference in how you think about it if you’re a planner or you are more of a go with the flow writer, but I thought it would be an interesting topic to think about regardless!
So the beginning sets everything up, the end is the big exciting resolution, but what about that stuff in the middle . . .
The middle of a book can have a tendency to lag because the characters are just working towards their end goal but sometimes that can lead to not a lot actually going on. So what are some ways we can work around this and make sure the middle is every bit as exciting as the beginning and the ending?
Personally I always make sure that an “exciting incident” occurs somewhere in the middle of my books, but even that can only go so far. Here are some tips on possible ways to help keep the middle of your novel moving along!
