Thank you for this interview.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
When not writing, I’m working at my day job as a pet stylist.
When I’m not working or writing, I’m spending extra time with family.
When did you start writing?
I started writing my first novel, The Vampires Ange De La Mort, in 2011. I wrote it simply to check it off my bucket list, so I had no intentions of publishing it. After letting a friend read it, she convinced me to publish it, and from there I’ve been fortunate enough to have some amazing fans who continue to encourage me to publish more of my stories.
If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?
Australia. Not only do I have a lot of fans over there I’d love to meet, but The Vampires Ange De La Mort takes place all over the world. I’d like to write some detailed, accurate descriptions about Australia in my next book for that series. Plus, I’m a certified scuba diver and I’ve always wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef.
What is your favorite part of writing BDSM Erotica? What is your least favorite?
My favorite part about writing BDSM is all the different toys, floggers, whips, paddles, cuffs, collars, etc. that I get to buy with my hubby to personally test out so I can give detailed descriptions in my books. Oh, and I love the different positions, locations, and edge play we get to test out, too. It’s fun to write about and it keeps our relationship spicy.
My least favorite part is having to give a warning at the beginning of my books, because there are narrow minded individuals who believe everyone’s lifestyle is the same. What’s considered “normal” to one person may be considered a stereotype to another. I even have to give a warning about sadistic vampire BDSM, because I’ve actually had a reader get salty over a vampire whipping someone until they are bleeding. Vampires like blood, I never would have predicted I needed a warning for that.
If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?
Absolutely, without a doubt, spend it writing.
Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?
I mentioned Australia earlier, but I’d also love to set one in an MC club.
Exclusive reveal: that is where I’ll be setting the next story I write.
Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?
I get my best ideas while I’m at my day job, giving a pet their spa day. I think I get the best ideas then because I have no one to talk to other than the dogs. I can tell them all the gossip in the world and every story I plan to write, but they never give me any input, just a wag of the tail so I keep talking.
What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects released in the coming months? If so, tell us about them.
I just finished writing a short story for Christmas, titled: Braxton – A Scrooged Christmas.
When his parents die in a car crash just before Christmas, and the abusive orphanage he’s sent to grow up in kicks him out the day before Christmas Eve, Braxton Scrooge chooses to leave the one person who completes him, leaving her in tears on Christmas Day, to become a cold big-shot million-dollar business owner. Forget the Ghost of Christmas Past. With a history like Braxton Scrooge’s, how could one ever enjoy the Christmas season? Braxton regrets nothing—until his true love, Gemma, re-enters his life. Only the Ghost of Christmas Future can give him the reality check he needs to stop being such a vengeful scrooge—before he loses her forever. When it comes to love, the real question to ask yourself is, how far are you willing to go to ensure your partner still feels your love even after you’ve left her side? Because the love Braxton and Gemma rekindle will turn out to be the most unconventional love you’ll ever find.
It’s set to be released December 4, 2017, and it is available for pre-order.
With this story being finished, I’m back to work on the third novel in my series – The Vampires Ange De La Mort. My goal is to have this one published in late spring of 2018.
These are super fun get to know the author questions. Basically similar to Would you rather. Pick 5
Q: Swimming in a lake or the ocean?
Ocean. Being a scuba diver, I love the fish and reefs you can see underwater. I also like that I can float better in salt water [laughs.]
Q: Earthquake or Tornado?
I guess I’d say tornado. Being from Iowa, I know what to do when those hit. I’ve never experienced an earthquake and hope I never do.
Q: Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise?
Brad Pitt, but if I could pick someone over him, I’d take Jensen Ackles.
Q: Rock or Country music?
I like both, but I find myself listening to the rock station more.
Q: Your life is a movie would you rather be cast for an Action movie or a Comedy?
Hmmm, that’s a good question. I really like being quirky and goofy, but it would be awesome to be a badass chick, doing some of my own stunts in an action movie. Who are my co-stars? Maybe it would be easier for me to pick knowing that! [laughs]
