Questions With Characters Raven McAphee

Character Interview: Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself!

*Oh, hi! My name is Raven McAphee. I star and bitch in this romantic comedy novel entitled, I Will Never Marry a Cowboy.

Tell us who you are and what you do!

*I’m a successful music producer, daughter of a retired physician and a desperate mother who likes pimping me out to my ever dearest assistant… or to any other guy she thinks would take me… as if I’m that desperate (of course, not…pshh).

Are you the main character in the story or a supporting role?

*I’m the main character.

How old are you?

*I’m in my 30’s. I stopped counting the number, simply because I don’t look it.

Tell us about your story. What is it about and what role do you play?

*Well, everything is on the fast lane except for my love life. I have all these pre-conceived notions about the opposite sex and all the perfect guys have been gone…married. When my Daddy buys a ranch away from the city, my younger sister Riley boarded herself on the fast lane too, by winning a cowboy’s heart. Someone that I could never imagine settling with… just thinking about that is way too awkward on my part… Imagine city girls and country boys ending up on a saddle together? I couldn’t for the love of God.

Do you have any birthmarks or tattoos?

*No, I have none.

Would you ever want to go hang out with your author? If so, what would you do together?

*In a heartbeat, yes, yes, yes! We will hang-out on a coffee shop, mostly to talk about this guy. Girl talks can be so long.

If you could have a super power what would it be, and why?

*The power to talk to animals… there’s this pot belly pig in my story, which I swear is so creepy there should be a reality show about a pig whisperer. That pig hates me!

What is your biggest pet peeve when dealing with others?

*When these others think they can take you just because you’re a girl or they are many in number… If they think they can pick a fight with me, they can sure try but I’m telling you I never back down to whoever and whatever you are.

What would I love the most about you?

*Oh, my fashion taste! You’d also love these dialogues I have with myself. I have a funny way with arguments which I usually end up always losing…hahaha.

What would I hate the most about you?

*You’d hate me for all the silly rules I have in my life. I have these ridiculous judgments and bossy ways, but I can’t help it coz I am.

Do you think the author portrayed you accurately?

*Who? Aim Ruivivar? Hec of a job she did! Imagine, she was able to put up with me but still making me lovable and funny, AND… she gave me the most wonderful lesson (and gift) of all ever.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

*Finishing all my to-do-list in the office, wrapping up an album and scoring a No.1 hit on the charts from musical artists I produce.

What is your greatest fear?

*I fear for my younger sister’s well-being all the time. Her name is Riley McAphee. She’s the sunshine of my life and we all know what happens if the sun is not shining, right? So I’d be careful if I were you, you don’t want to mess with a McAphee like me.

Someone is secretly in love with you. Who is it and how do you feel about that?

*AWKWARD! There’s this cowboy named Dale Robertson (along with another guy I’m not naming). I’ve blabbered why it is awkward in the story quite a bit. If you have read it, tell me what you think so I can change my answer here.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

*I wanted to become a volunteer for outreach and good causes. My father is a doctor so the urge of helping people was there but the call to become successful got in the way. It called me and I answered. I never looked back after.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you do today?

*I need a couple of hours before dusk… you know… sit on top of a green hill, watch the clouds in the sky, feel the air on my face, forget about everything and breathe my last dying breath in the arms of that someone I truly love, until that very sun would also greet me with its last goodbye… along with the first star that appears in the sky that night. .

What is the one food you can’t live without?

*Anything grilled, oh-so-YUM.

If they turned the book into a movie, who would be cast to play you?

*It’s a toss-up between Cobie Smulders from How I Met Your Mother or Drew Barrymore… someone with spunk definitely… a lady with balls.
